BOMBS WILL NOT BREAK THE PEOPLE: BAYAN CONDEMNS US IMPERIALIST AGGRESSION, STANDS WITH BOLIVARIAN VENEZUELA SOVEREIGNTY

Bagong Alyansang Makabayan – Philippines (New Patriotic Alliance) strongly condemns the recent military attacks launched by the United States against the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela.

On January 3, the United States launched military strikes against Venezuela, targeting sites in and around Caracas and key coastal areas. Reports indicate that the attacks hit military installations and nearby civilian communities, triggering power and communications disruptions and spreading fear among the population.

These bombings are a clear act of imperialist aggression and a grave violation of Venezuela’s sovereignty and the right of its people to determine their own future.

The US government’s kidnapping of President Nicolás Maduro constitutes a brazen act of state-sponsored abduction and military aggression, violating the UN Charter’s prohibition on the use of force against sovereign states, principles of head-of-state immunity under customary international law, and Venezuela’s territorial sovereignty.

What is happening in Venezuela today once again exposes the true nature of US imperialism as a principal source of war, instability, and repression in the world. From sanctions and economic sabotage to direct military assault, the United States employs every means available to crush governments and peoples who refuse to submit to its political and economic dictates.

The US aggression against Venezuela is not about peace, democracy, or combating crime. It is driven by the same motive that has fueled countless wars across Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the Middle East: control over strategic resources and the suppression of independent, anti-imperialist projects. Venezuela is under attack precisely because it asserts national control over its oil and natural wealth and insists on an independent path free from imperialist domination.

BAYAN expresses full solidarity with the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and its people as they defend their sovereignty and dignity. The Bolivarian process, with all its challenges, belongs to the Venezuelan masses alone. No foreign power has the right to impose regime change through bombs, blockades, or threats of invasion. The resistance of workers, peasants, youth, women, educators, and communities is the true source of Venezuela’s strength.

This latest act of US aggression is also a stark reminder to the Filipino people. The United States has a long and bloody record as a war criminal—from Vietnam and Iraq to Afghanistan, Palestine, and now Venezuela. The same imperialist power that bombs Caracas maintains military forces, rotational troops, and access to bases on Philippine soil. This reality endangers our own people and entangles the country in wars that serve only US interests. We condemn the Marcos Jr. government for recklessly and treasonously promoting the US geopolitical agenda at the expense of our sovereignty and the security of our people.

The lesson is clear: all US military bases and facilities must be immediately removed from the Philippines. The presence of US troops, facilities, and military agreements such as the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA) only strengthens US capacity to wage wars of aggression and drags the Philippines deeper into imperialist conflict. Genuine national sovereignty and lasting peace are impossible while foreign military forces operate freely in our country.

We call on peace-loving citizens, progressive forces, people’s organizations, and all anti-imperialist movements to intensify solidarity with the Venezuelan people and to oppose US militarism wherever it strikes. We call on our allied organizations to organize solidarity actions from educational discussions and cultural gatherings to street marches, to condemn US aggression, defend Venezuela’s national sovereignty, and strengthen international unity against imperialist war.

From the Philippines to Venezuela, the struggle of peoples against imperialism is one.

US hands off Venezuela!
Down with US imperialism!
No to US bases in the Philippines!
