A message to the new AFP Chief of Staff

The new AFP chief of staff should understand that the regime will not be able to end the insurgency with lies, naked terror, fake surrenders, trumped-up charges, militarization, and more repression. These rights violations actually give rise to more resistance. These violations exist and have been well-documented. Past regimes have merely added fuel to the insurgency through their heavy-handed approach. What will end the insurgency is not military might but the resolution, in its truest meaning, of the centuries-old problems of landlessness, injustice, underdevelopment and lack of sovereignty. The regime can jail and kill hundreds of activists like what Marcos did, but that doesn’t prove the regime is winning. That only shows the regime is desperate. #
