BAYAN SUPPORTS STRIKE OF NEXPERIA WORKERS
Bagong Alyansang Makabayan salutes the workers of Nexperia Philippines Inc Workers Union-NAFLU-KMU for asserting the right to strike amid the vicious attacks of capitalists and the fascist government.
Since last year, around 600 workers have been unjustly terminated by Nexperia over so-called performance reviews and the ongoing thrust of the company to aggressively rely on automation. Despite the huge profits of the company which caters to global tech brands, workers have been made redundant instead of rewarding their contribution and increasing productivity. Automation has boosted the production output of the company but capitalist greed for super profits has led to the unfair displacement of workers.
Workers have every right to resist the anti-labor schemes of management. Instead of extending support, the government responded by enabling state troops to demonize, red-tag, and harass Nexperia workers. It highlights the precarious situation of workers who are reeling not just from poor working conditions and high cost of living, but also the pro-capitalist bias of authorities as they enforce patently anti-labor policies.
The strike vote is a victory that reflects the unity and determination of workers to fight for their rights. Bayan supports the strike as we call all labor advocates to show solidarity with Nexperia workers.
