Bagong Alyansang Makabayan affirms its participation in the June 28 White Ribbon March organized by faith-based groups and anti-corruption advocates.
Bayan and Kilusang Bayan Kontra Kurakot were the lead organizers of the Baha sa Luneta anti-corruption protests on September 21 and November 30 in 2025 and the EDSA anniversary protest in February this year.
The June 28 march reflects the people’s clamor to end corruption impunity. We join other crusaders for good governance in demanding the prosecution of all those implicated in the flood control, budget insertion, and kickback delivery scandals. We reiterate our demand that top officials in the Executive and both Houses of Congress be made accountable for enabling, plotting, and benefiting from the widespread corruption in the bureaucracy.
We welcome the impeachment of Vice President Sara Duterte as we call for the immediate start of her trial, the presentation of all evidence, and her conviction for betrayal of public trust.
The anti-corruption drive should not stop with the impeachment, and we should target the masterminds and principal beneficiaries of the pork barrel controversy. Bayan asserts that Ferdinand Marcos Jr should face accountability for his key role in the roll out of corruption-tainted projects, his approval of anomalous allocables, and the release of massive unprogrammed appropriations.
Amid rising poverty levels and economic difficulties that our people endure on a daily basis, it is important to make corrupt bureaucrats accountable and recover their ill-gotten wealth.
Bayan calls on the people to remain vigilant during the impeachment trial of VP Sara Duterte and amplify the demand for her conviction based on the evidence. We call for bigger and sustained protests to echo the call against corruption impunity. The White Ribbon March is an important step forward in building a stronger unity against the entrenched corruption in the country.
The surge in anti-corruption protests in recent months signified the people’s determination to reject the bankrupt political system dominated by political dynasties, their cronies, oligarchs, and imperialist powers. It is important that anti-corruption protests should be linked to the long-term campaign to dismantle bureaucrat capitalism, and to carry out the people’s struggle for genuine freedom and democracy.
