It is difficult to comment on the guilt or innocence of Juanito Jose Remulla III. We can however point out that he was accorded speedy trial and an opportunity to plead his innocence, unlike the many EJK victims in the sham drug war and unlike those who continue to languish in jail on false charges including hundreds of political prisoners.

The rights accorded to Juanito Jose Remulla III, son of the Justice Secretary, are very basic and should have been accorded to all. He got a speedy trial, and his drug case resolved within 75 days. Many others, especially the poor, are not so fortunate. And that there is what is wrong with our justice system. The contrast between justice for the rich and poor could not have been more pronounced than in this case.
